Biography
Medellín, Colombia, 1932 Colombian painter and sculptor. Fernando Botero graduated in 1950 from the Liceo de la Universidad de Antioquia, located in his hometown. Later he traveled to Spain to study the great masters of Spanish painting.

Monalisa girl, from 1961, an oil on canvas measuring 126 by 130 centimeters, which was one of the artist's first works to arrive at the Museum of Antioquia, is part of this series, as is 12-year-old Monalisa, from 1959, which in 1961 it was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
