Diana, Princess of Wales (born Diana Frances Spencer on July 1, 1961 and died on August 31, 1997) was a member of the British royal.She was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, and the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry, the heir apparent to the British throne.Diana's activism and glamour cemented her status as an international icon, earning her enduring fame as well as unparalleled media attention, which was intensified by her turbulent personal life.
As the Princess of Wales, Diana performed royal duties on behalf of the Queen and represented her in various functions of the Commonwealth. She was praised in the media for engaging in charity work in an unconventional way.
Diana was born into the British aristocracy and grew up on the Sandringham estate with the royal family. She was the youngest daughter of John Spencer, 8th Earl Spencer, and Frances Shand Kydd, and their divorce in 1967 had a major impact on her.

Diana was born in late afternoon on 1 july 1961, in .Sandringham Norfolk, England.
Her father was the Earl Spencer. She left school when she was 16 and moved to London when she was 18.

Marriage, family and divorce
In 1981, Diana married Prince Charles at St. Paul's Cathedral. They had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.Charles and Diana separated in 1992, and divorced in 1996. Diana said Camilla Parker-Bowles was responsible for the problems with her marriage. Diana was the first Englishwoman to marry an heir to the British throne in 300 years.

Death
Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Al-Fayed, died in a car crash in Paris, France, in the early morning of 31 August 1997. She was 36-years-old when she died. Many people left flowers, candles, cards and personal messages for her in public places. She had a big funeral in London on the 6 September 1997. Concerts for Diana took place shortly after her death. The concerts involved Elton John and numerous others. Elton John released a remake of his song, "Candle in the Wind" in memory of Diana.
