Myths & legends
The Leap of the Foals
The Legend of Hag’s Head
After the introduction of Christianity to Ireland the importance of Celtic practices has declined. Pantheon of Celtic deities was angry of that. In protest they turned themselves into the horses. They galloped to caves under the Cliffs of Moher and spent there years. Then, when they get out, sun blinded theirs eyes. Horses galloped to the edge of cliff and fall. Now that cliff is known as The Cliff of the Foals.
A witch names Mal felt in love with an Irish warrior - Cú c hulainn. There was one problem - he didn't love her. Cú c hulainn had to run away from Mal throughout the Ireland, but she didn't give up. Warrior jumped to the island, near the Moher Cliffs. The witch also jumped on the island. Cú c hulainn quickly jumped back onto mainland. Then Mal jumped again, but she fell and hit her head against the rocks (near cliffs). Now these rocks are known as Hag's Head Rocks. Some people say that these rocks have Mal's head shape.
