The Knight's Tale

You have done well Squire. You have proven yourself in both skill and bravery. I wish you luck and I hope to attend your Dubbing Ceremony.

A Knight, eh? Sometimes I feel more like a ghost, always wandering. But my good wishes are with you my friend.

I see you've come all this way Squire. What are you looking for? Riches or Glory? Both perhaps? No matter, all will be done one way or the other.

CHALLENGE II: Verse II

What a fright! Another Squire goes on a quest to become a Knight! My Name is Bobo Jingle-Toes, I am a Jester to the World's Stage. What use is a Knight to a King? The troubles of the King make him sullen and sad. A Knight doesn't have the wit to lift the spirits of a sad moody King. Ah, but it must be riches or glory you seek. This will be interesting to watch.

Use the information about Henry Steubing Jr. to answer questions and find the words that you need. The words are scrabbled and you have to put the verse together! Drag-n-drop! A DRAGON DROP! LOOK OUT! HE-HE-HE-HE-HE-HE!

+ info

Henry Steubing, Jr. was born on May 27, 1872 in New Braunfels. He was born to German immigrants Henry Steubing and Katherine Margarethe Wetz. When Henry was 13 years old, his family moved to a farm near San Antonio. The farm was located on what is now Bandera Road at Leon Creek. While growing up, Henry attended school in Helotes. On May 27, 1896, Henry married Francis Bormann, who had grown up on a neighboring farm, and together they raised nine children. To support such a large family, Henry worked primarily as a farmer and a carpenter. He was also a leader in the community. He helped to build the Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes and established a public school in Leon Valley, where he was a member of the first school board. Henry Steubing, Jr. loved to read, especially the works of Zane Grey. Henry believed that a good education was very important. Another love was music, and he played the violin and several brass instruments. His music was well-known at Hermann Sons' Hall, a dance hall on Braun Road. In 1957, Henry Steubing, Jr. passed away at the age of 85, leaving a legacy of influential leadership in the communities of Leon Valley and San Antonio. He left many memories for his children and grandchildren to pass on to the more than 200 descendants living today, many of whom live in Helotes, Leon Valley, and San Antonio.
