Gillette is an American inventor and futurist who had a utopian vision in 1893 and this vision he had for the future was to transform the city by building a big building with many floors. He called "Metropolis" his project of utopian architecture which stands for an ideal place for the population.

This project was a project reserved for the future and would allow to all residents to live more comfortable in the utopian plan and it comes down to a heavenly place while having access to the same amenities including rooftop gardens in which they can live, work, play and eat comfortably. Furthermore, this project was never existed in the urban setting but there are many modern 21st-century concepts that are similar to Gillette's visionary plans.
There are a link between the project, the historical background and utopia. This project proposed by Gillette constitutes a social aspiration in which he had a utopian plan called Metropolis in order to have a perfect city beacause in America there was a problem of equality this is why there were many utopian societies that developed in the United States like religious community in order to promote social reform.
The goal is to make all the residents dream by this utopian vision who will give them comfort since its a utopian project. Utopia allows to make people think about social organization and to propose new ideas to improve the life in society whose an ideal society. Therefore, it was to give them an ideal place where everything is perfect and this place is characterized by a dream house with floors and a large space for the community by strengthening equality and happiness.
