What is a conditional?

Meaning

There are five types of conditionals

1. Zero conditional
2. First conditional
3. Second conditional
4. Third conditional
5. Mixed conditionals

A conditional is a sentence which states a condition and its result. There are always two parts to a conditional sentence – One part beginning with ‘if’ to describe a possible situation - Another part that describes the consequence. You can place any of both at the beginning of the sentence.

Zero conditional

We use the zero conditional to talk about permanent truths, such as scientific facts, and general habits.
