“80s music sounds so 80s now. But in the 80s, it just sounded like music.”
—Jeffrey Tucker
Introduction
Music in the 1980s was all about image and with the advent and popularity of MTV, the images that accompanied artists became more important than ever. When it came to music during the decade, nothing was understated, not the sound, not the fashion, not even the charity.
How the music of the 80´s came about?
- The 80s were a time that revolutionized the music industry in general, as styles emerged that forever marked music.
- In the 1980s, various musical genres became known, while others began to take hold, such as: post-punk, new wave music, gothic rock, heavy metal and synthpop.

Interesting Facts
Music in the 80s is considered the golden age of music, which means a period of great happiness, prosperity, and achievement.
+INFO
The music of the '80s is characterized by the appearance in its contents of a whole set of sound elements from novel electronic instruments with relatively “new” sounds. It is imperative to remember that at that time many of these musical instruments, especially keyboards, began to become popular for their accessible prices. The music of the 80s would not have been what it was without the artists and groups that were part of it.

ARTISTS
The list is very long, but there are some that are essential, due to their high worldwide impact: The Police, Duran Duran, Bon Jovi, Queen, Michael Jackson, Madonna, George Michael, Whitney Houston, U2, Genesis, Bryan Adams, Van Halen, The Cure, Phil Collins, and many others.

Queen
Queen was a rock group, but they dared to experiment with other styles such as pop, blues, folk, and even heavy metal. Also, they performed very striking shows in their concerts, with lights, smoke bombs, and costumes that did not leave anyone indifferent. It was the beginning of the so-called glam rock.
WHY THE 80’S ARE MUSIC’S BEST DECADE
We believe that this was the case for several factors. There are even many who point to the '80s as the golden age of 20th-century music.
The 80s combined commerciality with good lyrics. Which, from the hand of reggaeton, we realize that it is very different today. And there was music for all tastes and of great quality. That is one of the secrets of eighties music.
1980s in Music
The 1980s saw the emergence of electronic dance music and the new wave. As disco fell out of fashion in the decade’s early years, genres such as post-disco, Italo disco, Euro disco, and dance-pop became more popular. Rock music continued to enjoy a wide audience. Soft rock, glam metal, thrash metal, shred guitar characterized by heavy distortion, pinch harmonics, and whammy bar abuse became very popular.
Post-disco
Soft Rock
In Conclusion
In conclusion, we can say that the 80s will be marked in history. A host of talented artists who are now true legends had their heyday during that time. And I'm not saying there was no talent at other times, but that decade, in particular, was a great time to be alive and be a music lover.
