AMPS
Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome
How it effects...
AMPS is a short circuit within the spinal cord.Pain stimuli will usually cause blood vessels to constrict when the nerves send the signal, but this short circuit causes blood vessels to contract even further, leading ot more pain. Many causes are due to injury, illness, and psychological stress, causes can also be hormonal or genetic based.
Symptoms
(Including but not limited to)Extreme/constant pain, oftentimes worsening over time. Debilitating fatigue. Dizziness. Inflammation throughout the body. Headaches muskular/skeletal pain.
Diagnosing
There is no one blood or lab test to determine if an individual has AMPS. Testing includes physical tests such as; strength tests, joint function, and motion tests.
Treatment
There are some treatment options for AMPS; however, there is no cure for the condition. Treatment options try to shy away from medication. Instead, many treatment plans involve physical and occupational therapy. The goal of treatment is to provide a way of coping with pain and minimizing it to the best of ability.
