Does Our Judicial System Target People of Color?

I believe the judicial system has been targetting people of color for years and with this research I hope it proves to be true.

When did it begin?

• The first prison was built after the abolishment of slavery at the end of the Civil War.
• Things that were once legal became felony offences and many of these newly freed black people became prisoners.

How are people of color targeted more than white people?

Arrest Rates

Black defendants are stopped and searched seven times more often than their white counterparts.
