Is a penetration test used to evaluate the subgrade strength of roads and pavements.In which a standard piston, with a diameter of 50 mm (1.969 in), is used to penetrate the soil at a standard rate of 1.25 mm/minute.

What is CBR used for?

CBR) test is run on soils to gauge the strength of the subgrade as compared to a dense graded aggregate. CBR is one of the major factors used in pavement design to determine how thick the pavement should be.
