Exercise 2

Have you remembered?

Let's start with the comparative form of adjectives then

RULES FOR ADDING -ER:

One syllable ending in Consonant + Vowel + Consonant = DOUBLE the last consonant + ER i.e. big – bigger hot – hotter sad – sadder

Adjectives ending in consonant + -Y, change to -I + -ER: i.e. ugly – uglier pretty – prettier easy – easier

Exceptions: Some adjectives do not follow the rules above. They are irregular adjectives. They change as follows: i.e. good – better bad – worse far – farther / further little – less many – more much – more

NOTE: We usually add the word THAN to set a comparative. i.e. I am taller THAN you. Elliot is smarter THAN me Johanna is more beautiful THAN Sally. Ready? Start with this exercise
