magna carta power
It retains an enormous symbolic power as an ancient defence against arbitrary and tyrannical rulers, and as a guarantor of individual liberties
the signing
On returning from one of his campaigns in France, the barons, knights, clergy and townspeople organised a rebellion and asked the king to sign a document known as the Magna Carta at Runnymede in 1215. It limited the absolute power of the King, laying out the rights of people.

THE BUTLER
The butler movie is dedicated to those men and women who fought for their freedom in the civil rights movement. The main character Cecil Gaines starts working as chief butler at the White House in 1952. For over thirty years he will serve six different presidents of the United States. Despite his "invisible" role within the White House, Cecil will work closely with the most influential heads of state in the world, becoming a direct witness of the radical transformations of American history that, more than once, he has helped to inspire. Cecil will become aware of himself and his rights, resigning and taking the field alongside his son. It will be a great victory for them to see the new president, Barack Obama, enter the White House. He himself claims that the Magna Carta was able to set the standards for good governance for centuries to come. America's ancestors centered our founding documents on the values of the Magna Carta, inspired by the defense of freedom.
THE BUTLER - Ending Scene -
