Stop 1 - Lotus Eaters

Symbolism

The lotus flower symbolizes temptation. Your job is to draw or create a symbol that applies to you. Then, give an explanation as to WHY. You can do this one of two ways: 1. Draw your symbol and upload a picture to this slide OR 2. Create it in Canva, Google Drawings, sketch.io, etc. and insert it to the right. Think about something you love or that allows you to escape reality when you're stressed. Then, click on interactive elements and use the icons to give your explanation. (choose one and then click the finger to type in either tooltip or window) Must be 6-8 sentences.

The symbol that would represent me is the string of a pearl necklace. This symbol represents me because many people will usually admire the beads on the necklace, but without the string, there would be no necklace. I feel like I make impacts that not everyone can see, but those impacts are heartfelt and strong.

Something that I love to do that helps me escape reality when I am stressed is listen to music or read a book. When I listen to music, I get deep into it and feel like I am floating on clouds with the music. When I am reading, I put myself into the shoes of the characters and visualize what I am reading to make myself feel like I am in the book and going through the situations that the characters are facing.

Stop 3: Sirens

The sea is my magical paradise So come along and follow me I will sing this tempting song as advice Your soul will be mine I guarantee Hear my sweet voice ring clear The waves do not lie Your peaceful end to the journey, near No one will hear your cry I have risen to your help Your peace is in my hands I shall wind your boat with the ocean's kelp Now you must follow my commands The dancing waves will start to rise You are near the end My voice will result in your demise The ocean is your friend Allow yourself to get deeply lost Hear your scared voice plead No matter how much the cost You will not get freed These echoes will overtake your mind It is time to meet your end Through this melody that I designed To my voice you have been blind Come join me, my friend

A time where I was in a situation where I was stuck between a rock and a hard place was about six years ago when my family and I were deciding whether to stay in the United States or move to India. This was an incredibily difficult decision that my family and I had to take because we loved both the countries equally and both countries had different benefits and opportunities. My whole family lives in India and if we had moved there, we never need to worry about staying a long distance from them and paying our flight tickets every year. However, in the United States, both my sister and I were born here and are citizens; we would have way more education and job opportunities here. My family and I were very confused about what we were going to do and couldn't make a proper decision, so we decided to make a list of the pros and cons of staying in the United States or moving to India. Eventually my family decided that living in the United States would allow us to live a better and more fullfilled life because of the unlimited opportunities it provided us with. Both my parents got great jobs, my sister and I went to a really good school and made a ton of friends, we lived in a great house, and more. Even though we will greatly miss our family back in India, we have decided that we will visit them every year in the summer to make up for the fact that we live almost 9,000 miles away.
