Second/imaginary conditional form:

  • To make the imaginary conditional, we use the past simple on the if clause and would + infinitive in the consequence clause.

Second/imaginary conditional use:

  • We use this form when we are thinking about the consequences of something we can imagine in the present but which is not the case:
If I was better at golf, I would win a Championship. Santiago would play videogames with you, if you had a console.
