The arrest of Rizal signaled the beginning of the movement's downfall. La Solidaridad ceased publication in 1895, and Lopez Jaena died shortly after. Furthermore, despite the efforts of some individuals to reestablish Liga Filipina, their efforts were unsuccessful.
