Learners-Centered Teaching

A perspective that centralize learning to the students rather than to the teachers. Learners holds responsble for their learning while teachers are responsible for facilitating them.

stop acting as the sole source of learning, rather, become a facilitator of learning. A teacher that let his/her students do self-discovery. Teacher should act less while letting students explore and gain experiences.

select context that are more inclined to the needs of the students that will help them adapt and survive to the ever-changing society. It should more practical and realistic than idealistic. and theoretical.

share the responsibilties in the classroom to his/her students such as decision-making, school activities, etc. Allowing them to have supervised freedom will break down barreir that divides the students and teachers.

Basic Principles of the Learners-Centered Teaching

1. Teachers do less learning tasks.2. Teachers do less telling; students more discovering. 3. Teachers do more design works. 4. Teachers do more modeling. 5. Teachers do more to get students learning from and with each other. 6. Teachers work to create climate for learning. 7. Teachers do more feedbacks towards students' accomplishments.
