How to safely use a Bunsen burner

Step 2 is to lay down your heat proof mat and place your Bunsen burner on top of it. Make sure that the surface you have the Bunsen on is stabel so that it doesn't fall over.

Step 1 is to collect all equipment listed including safety equipment and put on your safety gear.

Step 3

Step 3 is to connect the gas hose on the Bunsen burner to the gas tap or pipe. Make sure the gas is off, you don't want to cause a explosition when you light it.

Step 4

Step 4 is to close the air hole on the Bunsen burner so that when you light it it's in safety mode.

Step 5

Step 5 is to light a match and hold it over the top of the Bunsen burner. With your other hand turn the yellow bit on the gas tap to the right while pushing down at the same time until it locks in place. Next safely bring away your match from the Bunsen burner and blow it out.

Step 6

Step 6 is if you are heating something make sure the air hole is open and a blue flame will apear. The blue flame is for heating and the orange flame is the safety flame because you can see it easily.

Step 7

Step 7 is to turn off the Bunsen burner you just need to turn the yellow bit on the gas tap to the left until it pops back up .
