Did you know that we can use adjectives to compare?

These are called comparative adjectives!

EXAMPLES

The mouse is smaller than the elephant.or The elephant is bigger than the mouse.

Example #2

Mr. Mittens is angrier than Señor Fluffytail

Math is more dificult than English.or English is more dificult than Math.

Did you notice what letters go at the end of the adjectives?

If you said -er you are CORRECT!

Most comparative adjectives will end in -er.

When adjectives end in y...

Replace the -y with an i and add -er.

ugly = ugliercrazy= crazier funny = funnier hungry = hungrier

When writing comparative adjectives...

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS AAAAAAAALWAYYYYYYYYYYYYS

Write the word "than" after it.

She is taller than her brother

Ms. Cortés is cooler than him.

The dog is uglier than the cat.

Luna is smarter than Henry.

Some comparative adjectives do NOT use -er at the end.

All adjectives that have two or more sillables don't use -er at the end. BUT They MUST have the word "more" before it.

EXAMPLES:

I am more beautiful than a snail.He is more interesting than a his brother. Math is more difficult than a science. They are more dangerous than a lion.
