What are they?

UDL Principles

CAST developed UDL guidelines that are based on three main principles that align with these learning networks. The three UDL principles are engagement, representation, and action and expression.

Cognitive thorie

Mental processes are an important part in understanding how we learn. The cognitive theory understands that learners can be influenced by both internal and external elements. The cognitive learning theory impacts students because their understanding of their thought process can help them learn. Teachers can give students opportunities to ask questions, to fail, and think out loud. Asking students to reflect on their experience. Helping students find new solutions to problems. Encouraging discussions about what is being taught. Helping students explore and understand how ideas are connected. Asking students to justify and explain their thinking.

Behaviorism Theorie

is the idea that how a student behaves is based on their interaction with their environment. It suggests that behaviors are influenced and learned from external forces rather than internal forces. How does it connect to UDL Principles? Throughout the years there has been many forms of discipline engagement, representation, and action and expression has fallen through these lines. rewarding their class or certain students with a party or special treat at the end of the week for good behavior throughout the week Positive reinforcement

Constructivism Theorie

classrooms focus on student questions and interests, they build on what students already know, they focus on interactive learning and are student-centered, teachers have a dialogue with students to help them construct their own knowledge, they root in negotiation, and students work primarily in groups UDL principles ? UDL strategies and methods encourage development of expert learners though personal engagement and motivation. UDL transforms one-size-fits-all instruction into diverse, multiple, and accessible learning opportunities that embrace student variation.

humanism Theorie

Making time to collaborate with other educators. Co-planning lessons with other teachers. Evaluating student needs and wants regularly. Connecting with parents to help meet specific student needs. Student choice. ... Fostering engagement to inspire students to become self-motivated to learn. ... The importance of self-evaluation. ... Feelings and knowledge are both important to the learning process and should not be separated according to humanistic psychology.
