Psychological Responses
An individual's emotional state, mood, or whatever state he/she is in right now will influence an individual's self-efficacy. Depression, for example, can dampen one's confidence in capabilities and it will lead to poor performance. But if an individual possesses positive emotions it can boost confidence in one's skills.
Social Persuasion
Self-efficacy is also influenced by encouragement and discouragement pertaining to an individual’s performance or ability to perform. If an individual is surrounded by influential people it can strengthen their belief that they have what it takes to succeed. But if an individual is being discouraged he/she will have doubt in himself and it will lessen the chance for them to succeed.
Social Modelling
Also called Vicarious Experience, in which an individual self-efficacy comes observation of people around us. If a person sees someone similar to them succeed, it can increase their self-efficacy. However, seeing someone similar fail can lower self-efficacy.
Mastery Experiences
Bandura explained that through the mastery of experiences we develop a strong sense of efficacy. But here in mastery experience, we can have either positive and negative experiences that can influence our ability to perform a given task. If we have succeeded in mastering a task we will build self-belief in that area whereas a failure will undermine that efficacy belief.
