The Social Mobility Strategy
The Digital divide- CITIZENS UK -
The problem
The coronavirus pandemic has really heightened the digital divide. Many disadvantaged students in the most deprived areas in the UK are literally unable to continue their education by remotely learning. Without laptops and reliable internet access, students cannot attend their online lessons, research their topics or even communicate with their peers. It is no longer just about a digital divide, but digital poverty. It is with these inequalities that escalate the widening social mobility gap in the UK.
The digital poverty in boroughs, such as Lambeth, suggest the wider issues surrounding problem students are facing.
The Task
The aims to identify and dismantle the education barriers young people in Lambeth are facing. By 1-2-1 discussions and collaborations with other partnerships. The campaign wants to identify the wider issues surrounding problem students are facing.
