What is a verb?
A verb is a word that shows an action or state of being.
In other words, they explain what something is or is doing.
Types of verbs
What are regular verbs?
A regular verb is a verb that its past simple (2nd form) and past participle (3rd form) is made by adding -‘d’ or -‘ed’ is called regular verb.
Spelling Rules
When the verb ends with a single v-c ( single vocal-single consonant), the consonant duplicates, and we add -‘ed’
When the verb ends with c + y ( consonant + y), the y changes to i and we add -‘ed’
Travel - Travelled
Study - Studied
When the verb ends with v + y ( vocal + y), the y stays and we add -‘ed’
For the rest of the verbs just add '-d' when the verb ends with e or '-ed' if not.
Play - Played
Love - Loved
Pronunciation Rules
There are three different ways to pronounce the past tense of regular verbs. It depends on the final sound of the regular verbs.

What are irregular verbs?
Irregular verbs are verbs that don’t take on the regular –d, -ed, or -ied spelling patterns of the past simple (V2) or past participle (V3). Irregular verbs are also known as strong verbs.
Many of the irregular V2 and V3 forms are the same, such as:
Base form - V2 - V3
Base form - V2 - V3
feed - fed- fed
let - let – let
Base form - V2 - V3
Base form - V2 - V3
had –had – had
hurt – hurt – hurt
