Is Anxiety Curable?
Untreated anxiety can get worse and cause more stress in a person's life. However, anxiety is highly treatable with therapy, natural remedies, lifestyle changes, and medications. A person may need to try several combinations of therapies and remedies before finding one that works.
What if left untreated?
Untreated anxiety disorders can lead to extremely negative consequences that can impact a person's entire daily life – they may not be able to work, go to school, or have normal social relationships.
How common is anxiety?
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concern in the United States. Over 40 million adults in the U.S. (19.1%) have an anxiety disorder. Meanwhile, approximately 7% of children aged 3-17 experience issues with anxiety each year. Most people develop symptoms before age 21.
Story of Someone With Anxiety
Joey was a 12-year-old boy who was referred to mental health care for long-standing anxiety about losing his parents. He had begun to have anxieties as a young child and had great trouble starting kindergarten. He had been scared of being away from home from school. He was also briefly bullied in third grade, which made his anxieties worse. Eventually, someone reached out to him to cure his anxiety.
