Attending Evangelical Diaconal Institute in Kaiserswerth,Being a supervisor at the Nursing Home for Sick Ladies in London, Making significant changes there, such as installing bells next to patiens' beds, manual lifts and training nurses.

CRIMEAN WAR

She agreed and after short preparations, she gathered 38 nurses and set off to Crimea.

Unsanitory conditions caused unneccessary deaths

Florence was asked to go there and help

Soldiers were dying from spreading diseases rather than on battle field

INTERESTING FACTS

Her activity inspired John Dunant to start the Red Cross, 12th May - International Nursery Day, The Red Cross established Florence Nightingale Award for best nursers, Was honoured with a brooch set with diamonds by Queen Victoria, She helped Poland by dotaning some money during January Revolution.

NOTE - FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE

• Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) was known as “The Lady With the Lamp,”
• She was a British nurse, social reformer,
• Her experiences as a nurse during the Crimean War helped to perform better nursery help in the future,
• She established the Nightingale Training School for Nurses in 1860,
• Her efforts to reform healthcare highly improved the conditions in hospitals in 19th and 20th centuries.
