The Affects of Gender Inequalities for College Students in America:
The Affects of Gender Inequalities for College Students in America:
Colin Baus
Purpose:
- There are over 20 million college students in America today, which is huge number continuing to rise.-The purpose of this research is to understand and educate college students and others about the effects of gender inequality. This investigation goes over experiences and individuals' thoughts to gain knowledge and data. In addition, this research is to find out if gender norms and inequality can affect a college student negatively.
What method I used for research?
- A survey was given to college students in America asking specified questions in order to gain data and information about their own experiences and thoughts.
Results:
- Over the time of my survey, I had 9 college students take the survey, which resulted in this outcome:
- Most of the participants had an understanding of what gender inequality is, but have not faced it personally.
- The majority believes in the wage gap between genders.
- Females and males have a disagreement on gender privilege and the benefits of being a certain sex.
- Majority of the participants understood the problems and effects that gender norms have on college students.
Results Cont.
Gender Norms:
Male Privilage:
Wage Gap:
In this graph, the question asks the participants if they believe on the wage gap. However, the results led the majority answering yes, while the remaining minority answered no.
This question asked the participants if they believe males have privilege based of their gender. The majority of the participants answer no to this, however the only ones that answered yes were women and males only answered no.
This question asked the participants if they believe in gender norms caused by society with the majority answering yes.
- Many students can not understand the opposite genders inequality. - There are gender norms in choosing a degree to study based off a persons sex. - These norms that affect the genders tend to have males jobs produce more income than femlaes, which grows the gender pay gap.
What New Problems Come From This?
How can we solve this problem and what group of people could help target with solution?
EDUCATE!The way to solve this problem would be to educate students and professors in gender inequality and its effect on individuals’ daily life. A group of people that could ultimately help target the solution would be recruiters and advertisers of college students to help educate them on gender inequalities effects on gender norms. This would help allow college students to understand the effects of inequality before they ever have to face it firsthand.

Training for the Workforce:
On the website, we could leave up the original survey as a place where others could share past experiences or gain comfort by reading experiences of others.
With the problems of gender inequality today, education is the only solution. This could be done in through videos and livestream siminars through the website.
A website would allow students to have access to knowledge about gender inequality that could teach them valuable lessons.
The purpose of my solution is to allow students to learn and educate them about the harsh reality effects gender inequality has on people. The solution is best for the target audience becasue students come to learn in college and another class or lecture educating them on an importnat topic could focus and help these studetns. Another audience that it could help would be the advisors and recruitors for colleges. These adults could learn very beneficial knowledge that they can then teach to others.
The purpose of my solution and why I think it is best for my audience:
