John Christopher Depp was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, a small industrial center in Kentucky. He is the youngest of four brothers, of whom a brother Danny More (aka DM) and two sisters, Debbie and Christie Dembrowski (his current manager) were born from his mother's first marriage. Father John Christopher More Depp Senior is a municipal engineer and mother Betty Sue Palmer works as a waitress. Depp's family has mainly Irish, German, French and Cherokee ancestry. Johnny's maternal grandmother, Minnie, was a Cherokee Native American and her father also has distant kinship with this people.As a child he was often next to his beloved grandfather, who passed on to him a passion for gospel and music, but died shortly after Johnny's seventh birthday. The same year the family moved to the coastal town of Miramar, Florida, where his father found employment as a public works manager. Upset by the death of his grandfather and by the constant removals (about twenty, after moving to Florida) that prevent him from finding friends, Depp becomes a closed boy, grumpy and more inclined to experiment with drugs than to study. In the church of his uncle, a Presbyterian pastor, Depp discovers music, thanks to the gospel played by his cousin. At twelve he began to play the guitar. Self-taught, he founded his first garage rock band called The Flame, with whom he performed in numerous Florida nightclubs; the band then changes its name to The Kids. When his parents divorced in 1978, he moved in with his mother and had the head of an Indian chief tattooed on his right bicep to underline his bond (including blood) with the Cherokee people.

He was very successful in Pirates of the Caribbean as Jack Sparrow.Pirates of the Caribbean is a series of swashbuckling fantasy films produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and based on Walt Disney's theme park of the same name. The film series serves as the main component of the eponymous media franchise.

He was also part of the film Alice in Wonderland playing the mad hatter. Alice is a 17-year-old who refuses an arranged marriage, so she escapes the party where she was supposed to be introduced to society and finds herself in a world populated by fantastic creatures.
