Watch, and complete the document

Ready to check your answers ?

Describe the man in the clip. What animal does the man meet first, and what does he do? What does he turn the snakes into? What does he pour over the chicken’s head? Which game does he play with the chicken? What animals does he meet immediately after he eats the chicken and what does he do with them?

He has short hair, thin legs and a big body. He’s wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans.

He meets an insect. He stands on it, then punches the air as he is happy.

He turns the snake into boots

He pours batter mix over the chicken’s head

He plays basketball with the chicken’s body

He meets a sheep and a lamb. He shears the sheep for wool and eats the lamb’s leg.

What weapon does he take out of his pocket? What does he do with the weapon? What does he make with the seal skin? Explain the link between the elephant and the piano. What is the name of the ship he boards? What does he throw into the sea? What does he take out of the sea?

He takes out a gun

He shoots and kill a bird.

He makes a coat with the seal’s skin.

The ivory from tusks is used to make piano keys.

The name of the ship is ‘‘Ruler of the Sea“

He throws oil barrels and rubbish

He takes lots of fish out of the sea.

He lands on an island. What is the first thing he does? What does he do with the mother bear and what does he do with the baby bear? What happens to the big cat? What does he turn the forests into? How does the landscape change at this point?

The first thing he does is shooting the animals

He cuts her head off and displays it as a trophy. He cages the baby.

He turns it into a carpet

He turns the forest into paper.

Buildings rise up, there are skyscrapers, roads…

How does the treatment of animals change? What does he use the rabbits for? He climbs to a summit of rubbish. He looks around and what does he see? Where does he sit? What does he place on his head? How does he feel about his achievements? What happens to the man, in the end?

It becomes mass-produced killing.

He uses the rabbits for testing

He sees more mountains of rubbish

He sits on a throne.

He places a crown on his head.

He looks very pleased and satisfied with himself.

Aliens land and they make him into a ‘welcome’ rug. He gets the same treatment that he gave out.

Mission 2 "You Can Help"

Présente le document dans la partie exercice de ton cahier, puis vérifie grâce à la trace écrite proposée :

Exemple de trace écrite (à recopier au début du cahier) :

The document is a picture. In the middle, we can see two penguins, an adult and a baby, standing next to a burning barrel. They are in the streets, and in the foreground, on the right, we can see some garbage bins. In the background, on the left, we can see a tag on the wall. At the top, we can see a slogan : ''You Can Help. Stop Global Warming“. At the bottom, we can see a logo. This document is a poster which is part of a WWF campaign to protect the environment and endangered species. We can see a panda which is the logo of the organization in the bottom left-hand corner of the poster.

Suite de trace écrite :

The scene takes place in a narrow dark street. It is in a big city because we can see buildings in the background. The street is dirty , we can see lots of trash containers in the foreground. In the middle of the poster there are two penguins, it is quite surprising because usually penguins live in the north pole (on the polar ice cap). They look sad. They look like homeless people, they have lost their natural habitats and they are now an endangered species.

1)Desertification (there are more and more deserts everywhere). This affects over 2 billion people with no water to drink ! 2) Multiplication of hurricanes and tornadoes 3) Melting of the polar ice cap in the North Pole (since 1979, the size of the polar ice cap has shrunk by more than 20 %) 4) Rise in sea levels (all major cities like New York or even London are at risk ! Recopie au début du cahier :

The document is an interview of Paul Brown, on WNPR, a radio station. Paul Brown has been a journalist for 40 years. He has worked for "The Guardian", and he has worked for GreenPeace. He has lived in Africa. In the interview, Paul Brown presents his book, "Global Warning" (it's a pun with the expression "global warming". For Paul, the main problem is the deforestation, because we have destroyed over 80% of the world's forests. And because of the Global Warming, the size of the Polar ice cap has shrunk by more than 20% since 1979.

Je sais exprimer "depuis" avec FOR et SINCE * Paul Brown has been a journalist for 40 years. * The Polar ice cap has shrunk by more than 20% since 1979. La différence est que : « For » est toujours suivi d’une « Since » est toujours suivi d’une

durée

date ou d’un moment précis dans le passé
