Create a repeatable vehicle mechanically.

  • Moves in a straight line and touches a wall.
  • Reverses back to its original position with no interference.
  • Must be fully autonomous after the start switch.

The vehicle must:

  • Be able to travel between 2.8- 8m
  • Be within 400 x 400 x 400 mm size
  • Determine distance travelled mechanically
  • Travel its distance within 2 mins

  • Maximum speed for the motion = 0.067 ms-1.
  • Maximum acceleration for the forward motion = 0.013 ms-2. (Assuming 0.067ms-1 speed in 5s for forward direction)
  • Force applied for the forward motion = 0.013 N. (Assuming mass of the vehicle as 1kg).
  • Linear momentum = 0.067 kgms-1.
  • Angular momentum = 2.11 * 10-3 kgm2s-1. (Rotational equivalent of linear momentum).
  • Angular velocity = 2.127 s-1.
  • Inertia = 0.99 kgm2. (Torque needed for a desired angular acceleration about a rotational axis).
  • Torque acting on wheels = 0.4095 * 10-3Nm
