things you should know about
autism spectrum disorder
early signs of asd:
what is asd?
ASD is a complex developmental condition characterized by chronic problems in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors.
Some children show signs of autism spectrum disorder in early infancy, such as reduced eye contact, lack of response to their name or indifference to caregivers. Other children may develop normally for the first few months or years of life, but then suddenly become withdrawn or aggressive or lose language skills they've already acquired. Signs usually are seen by age 2 years.
some autism facts:
ASD generally starts before three years of age and may lasts a lifetime. Early intervention plays a role in treatment and progress.
ASD can be found among all races, ethnicities and socioeconomic groups.
ASD is 4 times more common in boys than girls.
April 2 is World Autism Day.
Prevention for asd
diagnosis for asd
While there is no cure for autism spectrum disorder, there are therapies available. Early detection and intervention are the most beneficial, as they can assist with behavior, skills, and language development. Intervention, on the other hand, is beneficial at any age. Though children with autism spectrum disorder do not usually outgrow their symptoms, they may learn to work well.
Diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can be difficult because there is no medical test, like a blood test, to diagnose the disorder. Doctors look at the child's developmental history and behavior to make a diagnosis.
