Asking for clarification

When: 1. If we are not clear with the message. 2. Want to make a confirmation. 3. Miss the information given. What should you do: 1. Express lack of understanding. e.g: I'm sorry but I don't quite follow you. I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I understand.

Asking for clarification

What should you do: 2. Ask for clarification / details e.g: Could you say it in another way? Can you clarify that for me? Could you be more specific? Can you give me an example? When you say…, do you mean…

3. Confirm understanding e.g: If I understand you correctly, you’re saying that… So, what you’re saying is… So, in other words… 4. Show appreciation e.g: I got it. Thank you! I see. Thanks for clarifying. Now I understand. Thanks a lot.

Responding to clarification
