Passive voice

Strony biernej używamy, gdy: - nie wiemy, kto lub co jest wykonawcą czynności; - gdy sama czynność jest ważniejsza niż to kto ją wykonał.

PRZYKŁADY: It is made of metal. It was designed in 1920.

Wykonawca czynności

Strona czynna Jack washed the dishes. Strona bierna The dishes were washed by Jack.

Jeśli jednak chcemy uwzględnić wykonawcę czynności (agent) w stronie biernej, możemy dodać go na końcu z przez "by".

KONSTRUKCJA STRONY BIERNEJ

Zdania w stronie biernej tworzymy za pomocą odpowiedniej formg czasownika be oraz formy past participle (tzw. trzecia forma) czasownika głównego.
