The red panda,also called Ailurus fulgens,is an Endangered mammal. They are omnivores,although they mainly eat bamboo. Their diet is made up of bamboo, but they also eat berries, fruits, mushrooms, roots, lichens and they are known to supplement their diet with baby birds, eggs, insects, and small rodents on occasion. But they almost always eat meat easily.

The red panda has been listed as endangered since 2008 because the world population is estimated at around 10,000 individuals, with a decreasing population trend.

Red pandas live in temperate climates (10-25 ° C), with little annual change in forested areas; they prefer mountainous areas. Especially the temperate coniferous forests with old rhododendron trees and, of course, bamboo.

Description of the animal

They measure from 30 to 60 cm. Males weigh 4.5 to 6.2 kilograms, females 3-4.5 kg. They have reddish-brown fur. He has white spots on his face. Its head is rounded with medium-sized straight ears, a black nose, and very dark, almost black eyes. Its long, fuzzy tail with six red rings provides balance and excellent dexterity on the slippery mosses and lichens that cover the trees. The legs are short and black. It has thick fur on the soles of the feet that offer protection against the cold.
