Femininity & Masculinity
The Hofstede dimensions of culture
Let's define Culture
The Dimensions
Femininity & Masculinity
"The collective programming of the mind distinguishing the members of one group or category of people from another." - Gerd Hofstede
The notion of this dimension is the result from research shwoing that men and women set priorities differently. The intention is not to focus on inequality or to look o women and men as differnt worthy of power. Masculinity refers to the notion of being assertive and being focused on material possessions while Feminity is focused on ensuring a better quality of life for the family. If there is really something to it?
Power Distance, Individualism, Uncertainty Avoidance, Masculinity, Long.term Orientation, IndulgenceAccording to Hofstede these dimensions affect effective cross-cultural communication. By learinging about the impact of our own and other people's pecularity we can lean about bridges we can build between our culture and system of values and the cuture and system of values of others.
