dangers of a polluted sea

was ist life below water

Animals mistake it for food and eat it

The oceans and seas cover about 70% of the earth providing us with resources surch as food, energy and water. Life below water is goal 14 of the 17 sustainable development goals that we want to achieve after 2030. life below water is about protecting our oceans and making them cleaner. for example to clean up the oceans from plastic and rubbish mainly, and also the overfishing of the oceans that is causing the ecological balance to fall apart

they get tangled in nets and injure themselves

the plants living at the bottom of sea are ,,suffocated"

Goal 14life below water

illegal and undocumented fishing(IUU)

what can we do to help

You can reduce waste by reducing unnecessary plastic such as packaging or plastic bags. Just buy things with less packaging an use a cloth bag for example for shopping

Buy local fish and qualifield , maybe from your local fisherman. So you really know where the fish actually comes from

The plastic problem is increasing year by year. In 1950 we produced about 1.5 million tons of plastic per year, today its about 400 million tons of plastic, consisting of all kinds of thinks like packaging, bottles toothbrushes, bags etc. some of it ends up in our ocean every day , but plastc takes a long time to finally break down, so it remains in our ocean for several years . Around 135,00 marine mammals and 1 million birds die every year from plastic pollution. For example, they have eaten it , animals have become entangled in fishing nets or suffer injuries

be aware of you sourroundings...

iillegal and undocumented fishing (also know as IUU) involves fisherman who, for example fish in protected areas ...... IUU is a threat to the marine ecosystembecause it is not possible to accurately asses the stock sizes of fish species and also leads to the extinction of species. a total of about 26 million tonnes of fish are illegally fished each year
