• the film shows a city where people are controlled by prejudice and the racism they experience

Anthony and Peter: -two afro americans -"little gangsters" - frustrated because of their skin colour

Graham Walter: -american Lieutenant -wants to protect his family

Daniel: -Mexican locksmith -has a daughter ( Lara)

John Ryan: - racist police officer -He and his partner stop the car of Cameron and Christine Thayer

Farhad: - Iranian shop owner - fires a gun at Daniel

Cameron and Christine Thayer: - Afro- american couple - they had a conflict with officer Ryan

Key scene (1)

• the movie starts and ends with Lieutnant Graham Waters at a crime scene investigating a murder
• Graham Waters is forced to manipulate a case to protect his family

• The Iranian shop owner Farhad blames the Mexican locksmith Danliel for the destruction of his shop
• Farhad loses control and fires gun at Daniel
• Daniel`s daughter, Lara, wants to protect her father with her “invisible” cloak

• Rick Cabot and his wife, Jean, are attacked by two armed Afro-Americans named Peter and Anthony, who steal their car
• The Cabots feel confirmed in their racial prejudice
• Jean feels increasingly frightened and becomes more insecure

• Anthony and Peter are frustrated at the way Afro-Americans are treated by society
• As a protest they confirm the people`s prejudices by behaving the way people expect them to behave
• Anthony discovers illegal immigrants in a van he has stolen and decides to free them

Key scene (5)

• In a stop and frisk, the racist officer John Ryan stops the car of the Afro-American couple Cameron and Christine Thayer
• While Officer Ryan sexually harasses Christine, Cameron is frozen in fear
• Christine accuses him of not defending her - Cameron starts to struggle with his own identity
• Later on, Christine Thayer crashes her car and Officer Ryan saves her life
