The Tasmanian Devil
• The Tasmanian devil is a mostly black animal with red ears. It has pouch to carry its babies. It is a carnivorous marsupial.
The sugar glider
• This little fluffy animal can fly even if it is a mammal ! It has big eyes and its cousin is the guinea pig.
The bluebottle jellyfish
• It is a dangerous aquatic creature. It looks like plastic but do not walk on it on the beach or it hurts !
The dingo
• This wild dog lives on a big island of sand called Fraser island. It has a reddish fur.
The whale shark
• It is a big aquatic creature but totally inoffensive. It has dots on its back and a big mouth to eat plankton.
The emu
• It’s a giant bird that cannot fly but it can run extremely fast. It has three toes that help it to run so fast.
The bandicoot
• This tiny kangaroo has big rabbit ears and a pointy nose.
The bilby
• It is a cousin of the bandicoot but it is smaller. It lives in deserts.
The lyrebird
• It is an extraordinary bird that can mimic many noises from robotic to human sounds.
The wombat
• It is a nocturnal marsupial. It can live really long (up to 30 years). It lives in big burrows it digs itself.
The kookaburra
• This little fat bird with blue feathers can laugh like humans.
• It is a curious semi aquatic mammal. It is the king of adaptation. It can live in both water and land. Even if it’s a mammal it can lay baby eggs.
The platypus
• It is an incredible animal with sharp spines. It lives in different areas : forests, coasts, deserts and valleys.
The echidna
The quokka
• It is the happiest animal on the planet. It always smiles. Its cousins may be the chimpmunks.
The tiger quoll
• This wild cat has precious white dots on its fur. It is carnivorous like its cousin the Tasmanian devil.
• This little lizard has a spiky armour to defend itself from predators in the desert.
The thorny dragon
The cane toad
• This giant frog lives in the Southern hemisphere. It is the second largest frog in the world. It has poisonous glands.
The cassowary
• It is a prehistoric cousin to the ostrich. This giant bird cannot fly but its blue head and red crest help to defend itself.
The possum
• It is a nocturnal marsupial. It eats eucalyptus leaves, plants and flowers. It makes funny noises and is really annoying to humans.
The Tasmanian tiger
• This small wolf is extincted but it used to live in the Southern part of Oceania. Its other name is the thylacine.
