Sound is a type of kinetic energy.

Vibration

A vibration is a back - and - forward motion. The vibration produced sound. All sound begin with vibration.

A wave that transfer energy through a material and spread outwards in all directions from a vibration is a sound wave.

Sound moves in longitudinal waves. Longitudinal wave is a wave vibrating in the same direction that energy moves. Waves can be shown as a series of peaks and dips.
