- It is followed by infinitive without to.
- I can play the piano.
- I can go to the party.
- It is used in present (or with future meaning)
- I can’t have dinner with you tonight.
- For conditionals and past we use COULD.
- I couldn’t dance when I was a child.
- If I were a millionaire, I could buy a palace.
BE ABLE TO + INFINITIVE
- It expresses ability and possibility.
- It is used in ALL TENSES, especially those where you cannot use “can.”
