שכבת הקו

(1)זאת היא שכבה שעוסקת בהעברת מידע בתווך משותף. היא עובדת כמו רמזור בכביש ולא גורמת למידע בין שתי מחשבים להתערבב.

וכך גם שכבת הקו מעבירה את המיד בצורה ישירה בצורה שקוראים לה (קפיצות) כי המידע עובר כאילו הוא קופץ.(2)

(3) וגם השיכת הקו דועגת לכך שאותו המידע יעבור ללא שגיעות.
