Recap

Chocolate Attempt 2

Quiz

Formula

Chocolate Attempt 1

Recap

in the passive voice we get rid of the subject, meaning that it is irrelevant

therefore, the passive voice focuses on what/who receives the action: object

ex.active: I search the web. passive: The web is searched (by me).

formula

verb to be (it matches the tense in the active sentence) + past participle

Ex. Mildred was watering the plants.subject = Mildred (sorry Mildred, you are not relevant!) verb to be: was watering = past continuous (was being) main verb = water, the past participle of water is: watered object = the plants (they receive the action) Therefore the passive should be: The plants were being watered (by Mildred).

Remember: verb to be + past participle (the past participle of write is written)

Ok, yes, it is a lot to take in!!!Try this: I write the haiku poem. present simple = The haiku poem is written (by me). I wrote the haiku poem. past simple = The haiku poem was written (by me). I am writing the haiku poem. present continuous = The haiku poem is being written (by me). I have written the haiku poem. present perfect = The haiku poem has been written (by me).

And so on...
