Main characteristics in common: All reptiles are Poikilothermic. Crocodilia, Ophidia and Sauria (Adult) have scales. Sauria and Testudines are usually herbivores. Each limb have five toes that end in a claw, snakes have no limbs.
Habitats: Most reptiles like snakes and tortoises are terrestrial. Others like sea turtles are aquatic.
and they have cold blood
Subgroups and characteristics: Testudines: It’s the group of turtles and tortoises. They have a wide, short caparace. Sea turtles have flippers. They move by swim.
Crocodilia: It consists of crocodiles and alligators. They have a long snout with teeth and a robust body.The tail is used for swimming.
Sauria: It consist of lizards and iguanas. They have a long, thin body. They can shed their tail to escape from predators. They move by walking.
Ophidia: It consists of snakes and cobras. They have long bodies with no limbs. They move by slithering.
Some have poison glands.
Curiosities
1.Evidence of the earliest reptiles dates back to 312 million years ago.
2.Most reptiles can see colors better than most mammals can.
3.All reptiles use lungs to breathe.
4.The turtles’ lungs are attached to the inside of the top of their shells.
5.Although reptiles are often found in warm areas, they actually inhabit every continent but Antarctica.
6.Large reptiles, like crocodiles and constrictors, can live several months on a single meal.
