Hiroko Utsumi (内海紘子, Utsumi Hiroko) is a Japanese anime director, animator, storyboard artist, and mangaka. She is best known for her work with Kyoto Animation, particularly as the original director of Free!, and for her later work at MAPPA, where she directed Banana Fish.

In Okinawa, a group of skateurs participate in a secret, no-holds-barred competion after midnight known as "S".Reki, the main character is a high schooler passionate about skate. He learn skate to Langa, a new classmate. Together, they go participate at "S" and improve their skills !

Although he works as a professional calligrapher, he dedicates a lot of his time to skateboarding. He is among the top contestants of the "S" skateboarding competition. In this competition, he uses a high-tech skateboard, which he calls Carla, to help him measure turns and avoid unnecessary mistakes. In Episode 4, it shown that Cherry Blossom has personal drama against Adam, and wants to challenge him to a beef.

Joe is the owner and head chef of an Italian restaurant. He is a hard worker and enjoys cooking. He appears as laidback and flirty but underneath that he is very attentive and worrisome for his friends. He is shown constantly trying to indirectly protect Reki and the others; from other people and from themselves. He is seen as figure of respect and advice to the youngers

Ainosuke leads a double life, maintaining a public persona of a polite and likeable popular politician while at S he wears a matador costume and mask and takes on the name of Adam. As one of the founders of S, Adam has built up a reputation for himself as an undefeated champion and a dangerous skater who has crushed many skaters in the past. Due to childhood abuse and trauma and a twisted view of love, he views skating as a "ritual of love" and is searching for an "Eve", presumably someone who can skate at his skill level, and now thinks that Langa is that person. Adam is eccentric and deeply invested in S to the point where he prioritizes it over dealing with a political scandal threatening his public career.

• I love this anime. The plot is interesting, the story is developed and well written.
• I find this anime funny, but also touching.
• The characters are great too.
• I highly recommend Sk8 the infinity.
