What is a landform?

A landform is a natural feature of the Earth.

What are the different landforms?

A mountain is a landform that is very high. Some have snow at the top. It is usually steep and has a sharp peak, or slope at the top.

A hill is a landform that is high, but not as high as a mountain. It is higher than the rest of the land near it.

A valley is is a smaller, lower land between mountains or hills.

Plains are a large, flat area of land. Sometimes it is in a valley. Plains are very good for growing plants.

A plateau is a landform that is raised but unlike a mountain, it is flat on the top.

A canyon is similar to a valley but is usually a lot deeper. It is made by a river that carries dirt and rocks away.

A desert is a large area of land that does not have a lot of rain. This makes it very dry. A desert can be hot or cold.

An island is a landform that is completely surrounded by water on all sides.
