Past Simple

We use Past Simple when we want to...

  1. talk about things that happened or existed before now
  2. emphasizes that the action is finished.
  3. talk about a past state of being, such as the way someone felt about something.
Examples: 1. He won the silver medal. 2. She broke the window. 3. The contest was the highlight of his week.

How to Formulate the Simple Past

For regular verbs, add -ed to the root form of the verb

  • Push→Pushed

Listen→Listened

  • Type→Typed
  • Play→Played
