Magnetic stripe reader
It's an input device that “reads” the information that has been encoded on the magnetic stripe on the back of a plastic card.
How it works
(1) The stripe on the back of a credit card is called a magnetic stripe, or a 'magstripe'.(2) The "stripe" contains embedded information that identifies its user. (3) When it is swiped through the magnetic stripe reader, the information stored on the magstripe is read by the reader.
Widely used in mini-stores, superstores, banks, offices, restaurants and money transactions
Commonly used to read credit cards, identity cards, library cards, membership cards and transportation tickets
