many: countable nouns (bottles of milk, jars of marmalade, dollars, minutes etc. How many apples arenthere in the fridge?

A LOT

A lot of can be used in all sentences: affirmative, negative and interrogative, with both countable and uncountable nouns. We learned a lot of new English words. We didn't learn a lot of grammar. Did you learn a lot of English expressions?

Use a little for non-countable nouns (e.g., jam, time). I always enjoy a little cream and sugar in my coffee. Have a little salsa on your eggs. It’s delicious!

A FEW

Use a few if the noun is countable (e.g., jars of jam, students).A few coconuts fell from the tree. A few apples in my fridge
