The old English period. The venerable Bede, in his monastery at Jarrow, completes his history of the English church and people. -Prose: translation of legal, medical, or religious text. -Oral tradition. -Works: Beowulf. -Poets: Caedmon and Cynewulf.

(1066-1500)
The neoclassical period -Characterized by order, accuracy, and structure (control). -Inspired from the classical art and culture Greece and Rome. -Dominance of materialism and empirical science. - Restoration of drama.
The Renaissance period -Faith in the nobility of man humanist. -A positive willingness to learn and explore. -It was believed to be the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman worlds. -Comedy, drama and skepticisms.
