THE HISTORY OF COCA-COLA

Coca-Cola is a carbonated soft drink produced by The Coca-Cola Company. Originally intended as a patent medicine to help cure colds and give people more energy. It was invented in the late 19th century and was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the world soft-drink market.

THE HISTORY OF DOCTOR PEPPER

Dr Pepper is a soft drink similar to Coca Cola in its color. Each can of Dr Pepper contains 150 calories. The drink was first sold in Waco, Texas, and was introduced nationally in the United States at the 1904 World Fair. The exact date of Dr Pepper's conception is unknown. It is the oldest widely sold soft drink in production today. It was formulated by pharmacist Charles Alderton. Apparently uninterested in soft drinks, Alderton gave the formula to Wade Morrison, the owner of the drug store.

COCA-COLA

The drink's name refers to two of its original ingredients, which were kola nuts (a source of caffeine) and coca leaves. The current formula of Coca-Cola remains a trade secret, although a variety of reported recipes and experimental recreations have been published.

DOCTOR PEPPER

Unlike Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Dr Pepper is not a cola. Dr Pepper's flavor is allegedly derived from a mixture of soda fountain flavors popular when the drink was first devised. A partial list of these flavors can be seen at the Dr Pepper museum in Waco, although the formula itself is a closely-guarded secret. Contrary to a popular urban legend, Dr Pepper does not and never has contained prune juice. Doctor pepper is also the the most drunk drink in America.

THE FIRST LOGO OF COCA-COLA

In 1887 the first Coca-Cola logo was born. The logotype is represented with the “Spencerian Script” font, one of the most popular of the moment. The choice to use a cursive font certainly has a very specific purpose: it must convey a message that evokes tradition, consequence, genuineness and authenticity.

THE FIRST LOGO OF DOCTOR PEPPER

The very first logo included only Dr.Pepper inscription. Dr.Pepper original logo inscription was written with white and vintage font, featuring a well-designed dot. The beverage taste resembles that of a cherry. That’s why the background is light vinous. In the after years, the drink will be included in soldiers’ rations all over Europe. And after that vintage Dr.Pepper logo will be redesigned.

HOW COCA COLA WILL BE IN THE FUTURE?

According to John Faucher, an analyst at J.P. Morgan, the changes in the market will make it impossible for Coca Cola to comply with its growth plans, which the company has set at around 3-4 percent per year, unless it radically changes its market strategy, adapting to the new ones. Needs of consumers and focusing more on those types of non-carbonated and less sweetened drinks that the market has rewarded in recent years.
