Discover Breast Development

According to Dr. Manuel Noriega Trigo (2008). The mammary glands are regulated by hormonal influence; Their anatomical constitution, their development and the physiological effects (diseases) throughout the life of the woman depend on it.

Breast development from embryonic life to aging

To describe physical changes throughout puberty, the pediatrician James Mourilyan Tanner scale (1962) is used. This scale is internationally accepted, since it classifies and divides pubertal transformations into five successive stages, ranging from the child (grade I) to the adult (grade V).

The breasts begin to from during fetal development, with a thickening in the breast area called the lactation line. By the time the girl is born, the nipple and the beginning of the galactophore duct have formed. Breast changes continue to occur for the rest of your life.

This classification does not consider size or breast shape, as these characteristics are determined by genetic and nutritional factors.

After puberty, the mammary glands are functionally at rest until pregnancy begins.

According to, theOrganización Mundial de la Salud -OMS (2000), When the breasts are not adequately emptied, obstructions of the ducts can arise, with the risk of presenting infections such as mastitis, plethora, abscesses.
