My Family

Last October our dream home suddenly came available. We had no desire to move during a pandemic, but we have zero regrets. Here we are taking a break from unpacking and celebrating in our new space.

Travel

I love to travel! I have had the travel bug since I was very young. We took road trips a lot when I was growing up. I was lucky enough to get to see so much of the US before I was out of college. Then, along came kids and I didn't take any just for fun vacations for many years. Most of my trips were to Tennessee to see friends and family.

I have spent the last 21 years in elementary classrooms. I am a versitile teacher and have taught Pre-K through 5th grade, and all core content areas. I love teaching and the bonds that form in a classroom.

Journey to the Library

In 2018 I started to feel a little burned out. I still love kids and teaching, but meetings and paperwork were starting to steal my joy. I knew that I had no desire to be an administrator or work in a position that didn't spend their days with kids. I love teaching reading, and I have always believed that any lesson can be improved upon with a good read-aloud. I have been in love with libraries since I was a child. I always had dreams of becoming a librarian, but I was scared to get out of my comfort zone in the past. With the support of a friend and my family, I began the TWU library science program in the summer of 2018. Life and the Covid times happened, and my course work has taken longer than I had planned, but I am excited to be finishing up spring of 2021.
